August 30 some little comprehensionFor my laziness and lack of organization, I have paid quite a lot. Missed my flight for careless, had a tough
over night before handing in my final report. But i still SUSPECT if it will make a complete difference that i
mad a good plan before doing everything.
At least, i found an exception. Ellery has got an interview tomorrow, and he's mad a thorough two days before.
However, he is sitting at the next computer to me in the computer room. As Donald Trump said in the Apprentice,
"life sucks". Yes it is. No mater how much you consider the potential situations and possible problems, there always
be some exception. And he met such a thing an hour ago. The rail way workers strike again, even god can not count
how many times they had done. As a result, there is no way for him to follow the original plan. Maybe, sometimes we
have to say a good luck is more important, especially in such a result driven society. No matter how hard you work, if no
good out come, it will make no sense. Although i am trapped in some struggling marsh, I have to say i deserve it. If i had made
more effort and consideration, those stories should be undoubtly different.
As many other stories, this is not the end. I have to say the whole thing hasn't finish yet. It is true that the only reason for failure is giving up. If we keep trying, there will be at least one result, although may not be the best or even second or third best one. But it won't be as bad as no result. After searching different websites for about 1.5 hours, we finally found two different possible route to get to the company. Learning from the trouble, there is one for backup this time, and both of them can ensure he arrive at the company on time.
But go back to the previous saying, this is still about of luck, the pay off of those solutions is he is not able to have any sleep or at least good sleep the night before his one day assessment interview. This may seriously affect the performance on the second day. But, any way, he still have the chance to go, that is better than none.
August 22 22/08/2002--22/08/2006It's a special day, at least for me. Around the same time, same day, I first arrived in Heathrow, London. As a typical late fall afternoon, the weather is also the same gloomy. Time passed too fast even to realise such a huge portion of time in my life has been spent away from home. 4 years is a very long time, it's about 1/20 of a man's life, length for a degree course. However, it flies so fast that it looks like just an instance. The length of 4 years equals to 16 IP cards, 8 university semester, 4 fical years and like a night. I even can recollect everying happened the day before I left China, it feels just like yesterday. 4 years is also long enough for many changes, it's long enough to change a man's appearance, expand a person's experience, adjust one's character ( toward good or bad). Not sure where I will be in another 4 years, but I will do my best to choose a way toward to the greatest. Waving Bye-bye to MoneyI was really bored and no mood to study yesterday, so I just picked up a copy of last months’ news paper and tried to find same interesting “news”. Perhaps I was so tense with issue topics that a marginal article, with the topic of “Waving bye-bye to money” drew my attention.
This topic sounded quite familiar to me; a semester ago I was just discussing the cashless society with classmates. Thankful the rapid development in technology, people even intend to replace the plastic card with some smarter technology, and they are able to do so with the current state of arts. However, some words said by many giants in business came into my mind, “Don’t use a credit card unless you are ready to afford everything I buy”. Yes, people have already entangled with some many problems with the convenient credit card service. Since we would have no control on the money we have spent out when we purchasing the fancy products. Opposite to its name, the amount of money will instantaneously become your debt after you swapping the card, and we will feel even more panic when you see the bill from the credit company. for some reason, I only used cash recently, and I indeed got some benefit by doing this. I know where every pence has gone from by pocket, and avoid buying things blindly.
Although, as it said in the paper, the new contactless credit card can greatly ease money transaction, it is still not worth trading off money and the control of money to get such convenience. I think I will stick to using cash or debit card for a while.
PS: But I have to say, my thinking is a bit conservative, and those card companies’ purpose also makes sense. It is estimated that the contactless card market would be $226 billion a year, it’s some number that is 4 times Mr. Gates’s net wealth. My conservation also answers another question, why it always western companies hold patents and we pay huge amount of money for authorization to develop products based theirs. It not like developing nuclear weapons in cold war. Now, it’s first come first server, if we don’t have a good vision, we will get no chance to exploit a blue ocean, but only struggling in the red ocean, and life will be more and more harsh. August 18 Pluto is on the chopping blockFor decades, there has been a debate concern whether Pluto belongs to the solar system planets club or not.
Although, it has been considered as the nineth member of the group in textbooks all over the world (at least most of everywhere), scientists and astronomers never stop the suspicion and curiousity of little cool guy. From this week, 2500 speciallists from 75 countries gathered in PRAGUE to discuss and in order to come out with a finalise definition for planets in solar system, and finish the decades long debate concern with Pluto. Why some many people want to distinct Pluto from the rest 8 planets? The answer is obvious, no matter the size or the its track, it is more like a moon of Neptune, it is even smaller than a moon of Neptune. Of course this is not the only reason, otherwise people can not be bother to hold such a long discussion and research. If we consider Pluto as a paradigm as planets, there will be another 10s, 20s or even 40s of celestial bodies on the waiting list to be defined as planets. By then, there would be maximuimly 53 "planets" of which many are in similar size eather's moon. The solar system would be totally messed up by this planets, at least human consideration would be chaos. However, pluto being not a planet is not easy to accept, as we have treated it as the smallest planet for decades, and a 8-member group among infinite number of celestial bodies is some thin and weak.
However, no matter what the final result is not important. All those celestial bodies have been there for so long time, most of them are at similar age as the Earth. They have been in its place before the first creature came out in the earther, before human beings occupied the earth, before the definition is made, and with no doubt, they will be still in this place looking at us after this definition, human beings for the length of universe. That's nature, that science, what we do about it is too small to concern, and will mean nothing to them. August 16 大约在冬季哎，最近天天可以看到各种各样的负面消息。昨天百度裁员，今天西门子减薪。
就连让Internet第2春的WEB 2.0也被指不安全。
对了，还有一些小的2.0公司昨天刚刚叫嚣完，今天就已经销声匿迹了，还真是秋天的蚂蚱呀。
仿佛公司们都在纷纷准备过冬？
哎，怎么我刚刚开始找工作，所有的公司都开始卷铺盖了。
PS:有一则新闻倒是很让人振奋，中国移动在纽约成功上市之后以1360多亿美元成为全球市值最高的移动运营商了， 嘿嘿，这回vodafone的the world's biggest mobile operator的banner也要改一下了。 August 07 网游的变化 ( 一）时间过得真的是挺快，第一次听说网游这个词的时候还是高中，那时候一个同学津津乐道的跟我讲MUD，其实就是一种在网上玩的，连graphics都没有的简单文字游戏。不过，那时的游戏也是真正意义上的免费游戏（那么粗制滥造，要钱也有点太说不过去了）。
高三开始，随着《石器时代》，网游也经过很快的进化就到了，武林时代以至以《红月》为代表的未来的科幻时代。人类文明的几十万年，也在几个月的时间里被游戏走了一遍。不过，这个时期的游戏本质都是一样的，就是点卡来买游戏时间的形势。这种形势实际和传统的PC Game 没有什么太大的区别，只不过是，把游戏的主要部分移到了网络，厂商把以前一次性的游戏购买变成了分期付款。当然，还有万家之间的交换，从最初的物物兑换到RMB的直接引入。按照先进的电子商务来看，这个应该算是C2C的贸易形势。这个时期的巅峰之作应该算是《传奇》了，这是一个拥有同时10几万人在线的游戏，也正是这个游戏，造就了中国网游业的一个传奇人物——陈天桥，一个让人有爱有很的公司——盛大(因为不玩网游，我以前一直以为这是一个做饲料的公司，汗）。这种形式的网游统治了整个市场大约3年的时间，这一批的掘进运动也卓识丰满了很多人的口袋。不过由于这种形式有些太过露骨的敛财，自然是怨声载道。于是运营商和厂商们也要用新的手法。其实主要原因是因为，一时间网游入雨后春笋般的出来，把原本集中的消费给分散开来，而且大家为分一杯羹，自然相互竞争，这使得整个市场瞬间的变成了“红海”。为了进一步获取利益，厂商们自然要开辟新的蓝海。这不由得让我想起了一前在政治课上学到的一点东西，社会的变革是按照统治者的意愿，而不是人民的。当然网游进入到下一个阶段也绝对不是因为网友们的抱怨了。 |
